Each month we choose a patient who we feel represents the mission of Inspire Exercise Medicine. A person who exemplifies hard work and dedication to our program. Brian and Teresa Spencer are our nominee’s for October ’24.

“My wife made me do it. I did not want to come here. Really. Twelve weeks sounded like “life without parole”. I had places to go, things to do, lots of them. Besides, I didn’t own any of the sexy clothing people wear to the gyms.

B
ill was the first coach we met. Bill is part comedian, part life coach, and all business. After that first session with Bill, I was all on board and eager to continue with the entire program. We are now under the care and guidance of Michael and Brett. Michael is very attentive to us. He takes a very real one-on-one interest in how we perform our exercises and can quickly spot anything we are not getting quite right.

He ensures that we are getting the full benefits of whatever exercises we are doing. Brett takes a deep personal interest in us. Also, Brett has vast knowledge and experience regarding human musculature. He can explain which muscles are connected to which part of your body and what they do. This helps our understanding of what we are striving to accomplish.

I was surprised at how quickly my qualmishness vanished. I began to feel good about doing something healthy for my body – instead of the exact opposite. Right away, after just one week, I felt better in many ways. After the workouts my view of the world is always brighter. Things I worry about become much less worrisome. Additionally, I am sleeping much better, which is a huge benefit for me.

An extra bonus for me was my wife being able to do the entire program with me. This has been very, very enjoyable for the both of us. We have fun encouraging each other. It’s all the more renewing and more refreshing because we can do it together.

Despite all my initial trepidations, Inspire has really brightened both of our lives. This has been just terrific for the both of us!   The entire Inspire staff is devoted to good outcomes for all who come through the door, their honest concern for our welfare reflects great credit upon themselves and the entire Inspire organization!”

From the Dietitian

Opportunity presents itself everyday. We get to decide whether to act on it or let it slip by. While fate—the development of events beyond our control—can be seen as guiding us, the truth is we must take action on what we want or what is thrown our way.

Sometimes, unexpected opportunities arise. Some are small, some are big, and some demand more change than others, but in the end, each is an opportunity – all the same.

The one thing we always have control over is our reaction. Every situation, whether good or bad, can teach us something valuable. In fact, many of the lessons we learn come from moments we might initially view as challenges. We even have the power to turn what seems like a negative into something positive.

If this year has taught me anything, it’s to roll with the punches. When you fall the hardest, you have to fight to get back up and trust that a silver lining is ahead. Life is funny like that. It’s not necessarily about fate—it’s about how we choose to respond to the events unfolding around us.

As we move forward, let’s embrace the opportunities, expected or not, and remember that our strength lies not in predicting the future, but in how we respond to it. Every step, every response, shapes the path ahead.
